What’s Normal?

Mark2016

Hello once again from Community Christian Fellowship,

Have you ever wished your life could be normal?  I have. The older I become, the more something is becoming very evident to me.  Normal isn’t what I thought it was going to be.

I used to think normal was when I would be happy all the time, never having a care in the world, and not having to worry about a thing.   I used to think that when I never got upset at anything or at anybody, I would finally be normal.   Well, as my dad used to say, “That’s just a CROCK!!!” In fact, none of the above thoughts are actually normal. In fact normal is just the opposite of what I used to think.

We have to sit down with ourselves and ask the tough questions, one of which is “what else do we expect?”   We live in a world where “the sins of the fathers are passed from generation to generation”.   What in the world do we think that’s going to look like?   How do we think it’s going to make us feel?   Now, we may know what needs to be done to fix things, but that doesn’t mean everyone else is going to agree with what we think is right, and we have to live with that reality.   When life gets to that point, it’s really easy to just assume that no one cares about anything at all, especially the things that are bothering us now.  This, my dear friends, is normal.  We just hate to hear this because it really hurts.

Now before you start throwing bricks and shoes at me, let me explain.   Our biggest mistake is assuming that we can fix things.   We can’t.   We can learn to cope with things, but we can’t necessarily fix them. We need to begin to understand that someone else has already fixed things.   That someone is Jesus Christ.  If He’s fixed them, then why do we feel the way we do?   Because we have to surrender to the idea that He will give us all we were created to have in His time, not ours.  We ALL have to accept that the fullness of what He will give us cannot happen in this life, it will happen after our current lives end.

In John 16:33, He told us that in this life we would have troubles.  He also said not to worry because He has done everything for us.  He has forgiven all of our sins. He has overcome death for us.  He has returned to the Father and has prepared a place for us that will be for all eternity.

So the question is, why do anything now?   Why not just wait to die and all will be okay.   Because, we are responsible for sharing with others the hope that lies within us.  This is the reason we were born, to honor and glorify the One that has already honored us with His love and continual presence, even in the life that we live now.

This world desperately needs a message of hope.  We have that message.  I pray that we can realize that one person, you, can make a difference in the world.  You have the Creator of all with you at all times to help you no matter what life brings your way.  So, spread the good news.  It’s worth it…it’s the “new normal”.

Until Next time,

Pastor Mark
