History

Community Christian Fellowship (CCF) is an affiliate of Grace Communion International (GCI) and came about from the merging of the Houston (formerly) WCG congregations. A brief history of the denomination follows:

1947 - Radio Church of God founded by Herbert W. Armstrong
1960's - Radio Church of God officially renamed to Worldwide Church of God.
1986 - Joseph Tkach Sr. appointed WCG leader after Herbert W. Armstrong passes away.
1993/1994 - WCG doctrine changed to currently held beliefs.
1995 - Joseph Tkach Jr. appointed WCG leader after his father passes away.
2009 - The Worldwide Church of God changes its denominational name to Grace Communion International. As Joseph Tkach writes in the April member letter "Grace Communion International describes our spiritual journey together, celebrates our new life in Christ, and communicates our Trinitarian, Christ-centered theology."
